REGIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS THROUGHOUT VENTURA COUNTY
SOCIAL HOST ORDINANCE
- I introduced and received unanimous Board support to implement Ordinance No. 4343 in April 2006. The ordinance moved to impose fines and other consequences for hosting gatherings of underage drinkers, otherwise known as the Social Host Liability Ordinance for the unincorporated areas of Ventura County. Since that time, all ten incorporated cities in Ventura County have adopted similar ordinances making for a seamless deterrent to underage drinking in our county.
SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEM FEE WAIVER
- I initiated and received unanimous Board support authorizing a waiver of Planning and Building & Safety permit fees for homeowners who install solar energy systems. A homeowner installing a new roof will save $135 to $158 if the roof included solar panels. I am working to encourage the leaders of Ventura County’s 10 cities to institute similar incentives that empower residents to try these innovations and be a part of the solutions to climate change.
REGIONAL DEFENSE PARTNERSHIP FOR THE 21ST CENTURY (RDP-21)
- I Co-Chair RDP-21, working to support the mission of the partnership by strengthening and elevating the value of Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) for the Department of Defense. RDP-21 has been instrumental in bringing new missions to NBVC in response to the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission held in 2005.
